L'Envelope starts with a simple idea taken to the extreme: a letter envelope turned into a bag, with a flap that closes like a folded sheet of paper and YSL initials in place of a seal. What sets it apart from other matelassé bags on the market is the mixed stitching - chevrons and diamonds alternating across the grained leather - a detail you only notice up close and the reason this model continues to be sought after years later. In the large size, it becomes an everyday bag, and navy blue does what black can't: it stays elegant without being predictable, and works better with camel, gray, and denim.
