Bamboo entered Gucci in 1947, when the scarcity of postwar materials forced the maison to seek alternatives to leather for handles: the cane was bent by hand using heat, one by one, and what began as a constraint became a signature. The Diana revives that handle and adds the leather straps that wrap around it - originally introduced to help maintain its shape, they became the detail that makes it instantly recognizable. In black hammered leather, it is the most understated and easiest version to use every day: the medium size fits a laptop and a folder, while the contrast between the matte black and light bamboo does all the work.
