L'Envelope is born from a simple idea taken to the extreme: a letter envelope transformed into a bag, with a flap that closes like a folded sheet of paper and YSL initials in place of the seal. What distinguishes it from the other matelassé bags on the market is the mixed stitching - chevrons and diamonds alternating across the quilted leather - a detail noticeable only up close and the reason this model continues to be sought after years later. In the large size, it becomes an everyday bag, and the navy blue does what black cannot: it remains serious without being predictable, and works better with camel, gray, and denim.
