In 2003, Rolex celebrated the Submariner's fiftieth anniversary and did something it had never done before: it colored the bezel green. Thus the 16610LV was born, and the market immediately nicknamed it Kermit. It was the maison's first green Submariner and also the last with an anodized aluminum bezel, because in 2010, with the successor's transition to Cerachrom ceramic, that chapter closed forever. This is why the Kermit became a collector's piece rather than simply a pre-owned Submariner: the aluminum changes color over the years, each example ages in its own way, and that green can no longer be replicated.
Oystersteel case, 40 mm in diameter. Unidirectional rotating bezel with a green aluminum insert. Black Maxi Dial, the first fitted to a Submariner, with enlarged luminous markers. In-house automatic caliber 3135 movement, with an antimagnetic Parachrom hairspring, a 48-hour power reserve, and chronometer certification. Oyster bracelet in steel. Water-resistant to 300 meters. Year of production: 2006.
