The Deauville takes its name from the Normandy seaside town where Gabrielle Chanel opened her first boutique in 1913, and it has retained its spirit: this is the Chanel you carry during the day, without fuss, the one you really fill up. The tote shape, with two leather handles and woven-chain shoulder straps, lets you carry it by hand or slip it over your shoulder when you need your hands for something else. Beige is the choice that extends the season: it works from March to October, pairs with white and denim as well as camel, and lacks the severity of black.
