La Triomphe takes its name from the clasp, and the clasp takes its name from the Arc de Triomphe: Céline Vipiana created the monogram from it in the 1970s after looking at the chains surrounding the monument. It is that symmetrical two-part gold-tone metal clasp, crafted like a piece of jewelry, that makes this bag recognizable without a single word.
